A Prayer


Dear Lord
Comfort me with the closeness of your blessed presence
at all times,
but especially during the hours of the night
when I so often lie awake
filled with sadness and despair;
soothe my troubled thoughts with your gentle touch;
brighten my way with Heaven's candlelight;
strengthen my faith;
and give me the serenity of healing sleep,
so that when dawn comes
I can face the day ahead,
secure in the love of my family and friends
and in the certain knowledge
that you are close beside me always.
